We checked into our hotel and made our way to the Old Town for supper.
The following day, we ventured back into the Old Town to explore.
We started seeing this chalk inscription on doors in Innsbruck, Austria. We finally remembered to Google it.
A colorful car
Postcard time at our lunch stop.
I loved this skinny little house.
Quacker Jack with the Neckar River behind him.
The gate of a pedestrian bridge crossing the Neckar River.
Heidelberg Castle is in the background on the left.
Statue on the bridge
There are stalls built into the sides of the church in the center of town. We thought this odd, but upon further investigation, found this was a tradition begun in the Middle Ages. Hmm
We climbed up a very steep hill to reach Heidelberg Castle. This is the view from the top.
Looking up at Heidelberg Castle
Looking onto Heidelberg from the castle.
Quacker Jack and Heidelberg
A very complicated looking sundial on the side of the castle
What's that? Our admission includes the Pharmacy Museum? Don't mind if we do.
These shelves and such were part of a pharmacist's shop.
These were too - the red containers on the lower right and left hand sides are from the 18th century and still contain traces of the drugs listed on the outside!
More pharmacy artifacts (note the crocodile used to indicate an apothecary)
We left the Pharmacy Museum and toured the rest of the outside of the castle.
A church just below the castle
We walked past this house on our way back into town from the castle.
Another building on our walk back to town
We set out for the Frankfurt airport the following day in order to return our rental car and catch a train to our next destination, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
