Innsbruck, Austria

We took the Innsbruck city bus to the neighboring town for a sky tram ride up to a hiking trail.

Quacker Jack on the sky tram.
Innsbruck has been a part of winter Olympic sports for quite some time.

Not a bad view of the Alps and little Austrian towns below

J refilled our water bottle with very cold water from the mountain.

We were on one of the last trams of the day headed back to town. It was a little squished.

Innsbruck is the third largest city in Austria.  Here are some photos of the cute little downtown area.

This Alabama girl had never seen snow shoes (being held by the model with the yellow jacket on) before.

The view from our apartment

There was a bus stop just outside our apartment, but it was such a pretty day, we decided to walk down the hill into town.

The River Inn flows through Innsbruck.

Traveling on the No Plan Plan has allowed for all kinds of exciting surprises.  For example, when we woke up, we had no clue we'd be experiencing a true Tirolean Abend!  A dinner and a show featuring traditional songs and dances from the Tirol area of Austria.

Getting excited in the theater!  The girl over J's shoulder...not so much...

There were lederhosen and thigh slapping and jumping and spinning!

And a cow bell solo and the Ricola horns!

The lumberjack dance was pretty thrilling.

Not as thrilling as the Jealously Dance, though!

More jumping and lederhosen-ing

At the end of the evening, they played songs from each of the countries represented in the audience.  Guess who were the only two Americans standing for a medley of "Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue" and "Yankee Doodle".

Best. Night. Ever.

  1. Love the red lipstick you're still rockin and the new scarf is beautiful.
