Foncebadon to Molinaseca

Miles walked 12.15
Steps taken 36,291
"Back in my day, I walked the Camino uphill both ways" The scenery is much more varied than the Meseta, and so is the topography.  Legs burning and feet aching, we made it to our new favorite town on the Camino, Molinaseca.  After days of earthen brown buildings, the architecture seemed new and exciting - made of stone with a more mountain village feel.  The almost entirely downhill walk had the familiar feel of the beginning of the Camino with rocks that stood straight up from the ground.  Lots of concentration required to keep from falling or hurting ankles.  A day of walking with no injury is a win.
Interesting pilgrims We ate supper at our hostel with Damien, originally from Hong Kong, but living in Scotland.  He is retired and has many projects to keep himself busy.  He proudly showed us his garden and patio he built along with a little playhouse structure that he was going to use to house his mother's ashes.  Then, he decided to keep them inside and now the playhouse is just a cute decoration.  He swims at the local pool several times a week and enjoys baking.  When I told him we hadn't decided if we would walk or take a bus to the west coast, he said, "Every pilgrim does what they can.  We are all moving forward and that's all that matters.  There is no right pilgrim or wrong pilgrim.  We are all just pilgrims." Oh, Damien.  ❤️

The path went straight theory those bushes - head down and sticks up by my side, I pushed my way through.

The way down

Where I walked next

How I felt about that

Señor Oso hostel, where our host José was just as nice as could be.  He also runs a bakery next door and provided freahky baked bread at supper and breakfast.  It was a quiet stay in our room because although there were two sets of bunk beds, no one else joined us!  An unplanned private room!
Theres a river cafe where we had snacks and a relaxing afternoon.  Many locals came out to sun themselves too.  One was even topless.  Oh my!  (She's not in this picture)

This little friend has white eye liner just like Kevin, but I couldn't get a picture of his face.  He was the sweetest little man, just trying to get some snacks.
