It wasn't the most scenic walk today. Going into cities, it's rarely lovely. This stretch felt particularly unattractive.
But, we ran into a friend from Australia during our walk today and enjoyed seeing her again. We stopped at a cafe together on our walk and then met back up in León a couple times as we were both taking rest days here. She's resting for shin splints, we are resting to rest of course, but also to just enjoy the city. She's a great Camino friend as well. Very upbeat and chatty. She came to walk the Camino after a two month stay in South Asia. After she finishes the Camino (around the same time as us!), she will meet her mom in London and they will tour London, Edinburgh, and Paris. She hit her 111 day of travel on the rest day in Léon. Hard to believe we've come this far - we have less miles ahead of us than we do behind us. About 300 miles walked so far! We're coming for you, these last 200. Project 500 Miles, more than halfway complete.
Saw this Spanish version of Shady Pines as we left Puente Villarente this morning. "Residencia de Ancianos"
